Discipline Appeals Board
The Discipline Appeals Board hears and considers appeals against decisions made by:
- The Trial Division of the University Tribunal acting under the Code of Behavior on Academic Matters.
- A Hearing Officer acting under the hearing procedures of the Code of Student Conduct.
Decisions from the Trial Division of the University Tribunal and the Hearing Officer may be appealed only:
(a) by the accused, from a conviction at trial, upon a question which is not one of fact alone;
(b) by the Provost, from an acquittal at trial, upon a question which is not one of fact alone;
(c) by the accused or the Provost, from a sanction imposed
An appeal is not a new trial, but serves as a stay of the decision being appealed. That is, the sanction imposed at the first hearing cannot be implemented while the appeal is ongoing, unless the Discipline Appeals Board decides otherwise.
